Hi there! I'm Jenny, and my passion for math education began in high school when I served as a teaching assistant for a calculus class. Classmates consistently sought my help because I could break down complex concepts in ways that made sense to them. This experience revealed my love for teaching and led me to earn my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Utah Valley University, where I also worked in the university's Math Lab tutoring fellow students. Over the past nine years, I've been tutoring mathematics across a wide range of levels, from middle school students just beginning to understand foundational concepts through university students tackling advanced coursework.
My tutoring experience spans both one-on-one sessions and small group settings, working with students in person and online. I've worked with students from ages 11 through adult learners, covering subjects including middle school math, high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and college-level courses such as Calculus 1 through 3, linear algebra, differential equations, and statistics. My teaching approach focuses on building genuine understanding rather than memorization. I get to know each student's learning style, goals, and challenges, then introduce concepts step by step with clear explanations. I provide guided practice where we work through problems together, followed by independent practice where students apply what they've learned, building confidence along the way.
I create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. I also connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications, helping students see how math relates to their everyday lives. I'm highly responsive and always welcome feedback from students and parents. If you're struggling with math or want to strengthen your skills, I'd love to help you succeed. Please reach out with any questions or to schedule a session!
