I'm Autumn! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences (I love teaching others about clouds!) and a minor in Environmental Studies. I am currently pursuing graduate studies in Climate Science & Policy. With a strong background in the physical and environmental sciences, I’m passionate about tutoring others in a subject I love. I have experience teaching in formal and informal settings, working with children ages 5–12. Last spring, as a volunteer language assistant in Spain, I led science and language classes in multiple public elementary schools. I also have six years of experience as a youth sailing instructor, where I taught STEM-integrated sailing camps, introducing students to marine and environmental science. Through these roles, I developed the ability to cater to auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners.
Before I teach, I take the time to understand my student's learning styles so I can tailor my approach to best support them. I emphasize critical thinking through a question-based approach, using open-ended questions to guide students toward understanding concepts. I also believe learning should be active and engaging, incorporating interactive activities and compelling visuals to ensure comprehension.
