Bio

I have always tutored many different subjects. In math (arithmetic, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus), I have a minor in math and many years of mathematics tutoring experience. I can teach all levels of Spanish: I am a simultaneous conference interpreter and a nationally certified Spanish translator in both directions. I have always tutored many different subjects. In math (arithmetic, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus), I have a minor in math and many years of mathematics tutoring experience. I can teach all levels of Spanish: I am a simultaneous conference interpreter and a nationally certified Spanish translator in both directions. I have a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Washington. I am a native speaker of English who writes and rewrites professionally in more than one language and can teach reading, grammar, writing, and inglés (ESL).

I am a National Merit Scholar (my PSAT score paid for my private university tuition). I can show you how to improve your score on the PSAT, SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, GMAT, and more. I have a minor in biology and can help you with high school biology and chemistry. I was also given the best chemistry student award at my community college.

After many years of keeping up daily with U.S. and international news, I am extremely knowledgeable about the U.S. government, U.S. history, and world affairs and history and can help you in those subjects, including in preparing for the U.S. citizenship exam. For DECA (business) students, my experience running my own business since forever has given me the knowledge to be able to help you with any question you have. Besides being fluent in Spanish and English, I have also studied French at the Universidad de Costa Rica and at the University of Washington, and can help you with beginning French or learning French for reading knowledge.

I have been playing piano since I was 5. I can sight read almost anything. I can play Chopin, Schubert, Joplin, and Gottschalk, among other composers. I can help you learn to play, or to play better.

I have taught students of all ages from preschool to adults. At any age, I help students build their own confidence and skills.

I have a B.A. in Spanish (linguistics emphasis) from the University of Washington, Seattle. For over 20 years I have been a professional Spanish translator and interpreter (and for 30 years, a professional tutor). In 2008, I passed the American Translators Association exam (12% pas rate) to become an ATA Certified Translator for Spanish-to-English translations. In 2010, I passed the ATA exam to become an ATA Certified Translator for English-to-Spanish translations. There are fewer than 100 (only 70) translators in all of the United States with both of these certifications.
