Hello, I'm Renee! I'm a PhD student in physics at the University of Washington in Seattle, and ever since my first physics class, I've been obsessed with sharing it with anyone I can. Watching as someone comes to truly, intuitively understand a concept with which they'd previously been struggling and build their confidence with it as a result is one of the absolute most rewarding experiences in the world to me, and that has spilled over from a love of teaching physics to include teaching...

Hello, I'm Renee! I'm a PhD student in physics at the University of Washington in Seattle, and ever since my first physics class, I've been obsessed with sharing it with anyone I can. Watching as someone comes to truly, intuitively understand a concept with which they'd previously been struggling and build their confidence with it as a result is one of the absolute most rewarding experiences in the world to me, and that has spilled over from a love of teaching physics to include teaching mathematics and astronomy. I have a BS in Physics and Astronomy, a MS in Physics, and am partway through my PhD in Physics at UW Seattle.

I have been teaching in various capacities - as a TA, a tutor, and an online university instructor - for nearly 6 years, and I have more and more fun guiding students through these topics with each passing year. Most of my teaching experience has been online; with most of my teaching experience kicking off in autumn of 2020, I needed to learn how to teach effectively while everything was fully virtual, and I find virtual platforms to have become wonderful teaching tools. Since then, I've taught math, physics, and astronomy from middle school to college levels.

My teaching style is collaborative and interactive: we'll work through practice problems together to give an anchor to the "what" and "why", I will ask you questions as we go through various problems and topics to help you understand more deeply, and I pay close attention to find any gaps that may have been left by previous classes that we can fill in to make your current classes easier. One of my goals is for you to feel comfortable asking any question you need to and to feel safe making mistakes - those are part of the learning process, and we can use that to your advantage!

Helping students learn is my passion, and I'm here to help in any way I can. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!
