This was a major shift from my previous degree's focus on history and cultural studies, and required absorbing a huge number of new information and disciplines in math, chemistry, physics, and more. This experience not only gave me a lifelong love of delving into new fields of study, but also gave me a great amount of appreciation for the hard work of both the new and returning students I worked alongside. Their dedication and resourcefulness have inspired me to continue my work supporting students on their path to learning, even as I myself have left academia and pursued a new learning pursuit in professional beekeeping.

I then studied at University of Illinois at Chicago, where I worked as a teaching assistant for the seven years of my PhD in Planetary Science. I specialized in introductory earth and environmental sciences, covering topics in chemistry, physics, and mathematics as they pertain to the study of the natural world. I also taught more advanced courses in geophysics, minerals, and structural geology,
