About Renee

Bio

I love teaching and have a broad background experience. My degree is a Master's of Education with an emphasis in science. However, in my 30 years of teaching (both full-time and part-time), I have taught numerous subjects and age levels ranging from Kindergarten to young adult. Some of the subjects include (but not limited to) are general science, math (through Algebra II), reading, GED preparation, World of Work, Culminating Project, Anatomy and Physiology and more.

I believe my strength in teaching is my caring attitude and ability to motivate and instill feelings of success and desire to learn more. Many students have not had good experiences in some subjects and I believe the key is to teach in small enough steps so that they can feel successful in a subject they didn't believe they could do and eventually, through a proper speed and level of progressing through steps will find success and confidence!

When I taught at a Job Corps Center my students were 16-24 years old and for many of them, English was their second language. I am very comfortable helping someone with English!
Geometry

I have taught math and science at the high school level through geometry. It is important to me to review upcoming materials ahead of time so that I can be adequately prepared to tutor. I have a lot of patience and consider myself to be good with teens and interaction with them. I enjoy new challenges. However, the expectations must be realistic and the student must be willing to work between sessions, practicing what we have covered!
