I am Aaron. Currently, I am in the Navy and can be available in the evenings for all kinds of tutoring for music. I am a pianist, proficient in music theory and history and music education. This May, I will graduate with my MA in Music Education. My thesis centers around the relationship between participating in music and quality of life.
I taught high school choir and advanced placement music theory for 2 years in Texas, where I still hold a valid all-level teaching certificate. Since joining the Navy in 2005, I have tutored over 20 students in music theory, taught private piano lessons and provided valuable input on music-related essays.
"Concepts are crucial" is my teaching philosophy. I believe that understanding the "why" enables one to not only understand the "how," but allows for complete understanding.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
