I wish I had been able to make the connection between the formulas and my goals. With my now broader perspective, I like to help students to embrace algebra on a personal level instead of depending solely on rote memorization.

As a certified Microsoft Office Specialist and Microsoft Excel expert with hands-on Excel experience in both academia and business, my knowledge extends from handy shortcuts (did you know you can autofit columns?) to advanced techniques such as macros, solver, and pivot tables. Because this software can be used in so many ways, my lessons focus directly on what is relevant for my students' goals, such as analysis, visualization, or organization.

Psychology is my passion. I have a neuron tattooed on my arm, which has proven to be a convenient diagram when I randomly end up explaining neuroscience to friends and family. Graduate studies have allowed me to delve deep into learning, cognition, pharmacology, hormones and neurotransmitters, and cultural phenomena. A liberal arts undergraduate education has provided a well-rounded base, including humanities, anthropology, sociology, language, logic, and biology. I think both research and theory are great fun, and I'll help you to find the excitement in them!

In completing my undergraduate dissertation, I defended my work with a 45-minute presentation of my work, followed by 15-minutes for questions. This prepared me to later present a poster in addition to two conference presentations of my graduate research for my MSc dissertation. Though I was once nervous, I now love speaking to an audience and helping other people to find their public speaking voice as well. Having tutored a wide variety of students and communicated findings to technological novices, development teams, executives, students, and more, I enjoy tailoring presentations to the target audience.

SPSS has been my primary analysis tool in research, including descriptive statistics, multiple regressions, ANOVAs, MANCOVAs, t-tests, normality tests, and more. I have used SPSS for undergraduate and undergraduate coursework in addition to my own research and love to help students make the most of this statistical software.

With over 8 years of research experience and a year of tutoring at PhD, Masters, and professional levels, I tailor lessons to the unique needs of my students. Statistics was once my greatest weakness, and is now a strength. Statistics are a tool for learning rather than a roadblock, and my goal is to make that transition easier for my students.
