Hello! My name is Abby. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature and Strategic Communications from Whitworth University in 2024. During my last semester in college, I lived, studied, and worked abroad in Guatemala and Costa Rica, which pushed me to refine my Spanish-speaking abilities and cultivate other valuable intercultural communication skills. After I returned from my semester abroad in Central America and graduated, I worked at Grass Lake Elementary School as a multilingual para educator for one year. I also spent this last year volunteering at a local shelter designing and teaching lessons for Spanish speaking children and adults seeking to build English skills. I speak, read, and write in Spanish every day.
What I love the most about Spanish is how much it has allowed me to connect with people from around the world. Further, Spanish communication skills prove practical in everyday life. I feel honored to support and guide students in their own language learning journeys, regardless of their own personal goals or reasons, and it is not a responsibility I take lightly. As your tutor, you can count on me to come prepared to each session drawing from the knowledge I mastered through acquiring my Spanish Language and Literature degree, immersion experience in Central America, and experience volunteering at a Spanish-speaking shelter.
If you are a student who is seeking support to acquire vocabulary building skills, develop speaking skills, practice conversation in Spanish, understanding and mastering Spanish grammar, writing in Spanish, or improving your grade in a Spanish class, we may be a good fit. Together, we can create a plan that will best position you to meet and exceed your specific goals. Congratulations on your pursuit to increase your Spanish communication abilities. Learning a language takes courage and dedication. I vow to encourage and challenge you on your language learning journey!
Sincerely,
Abby
