University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (Music Education-elem)
I have been retired from substitute teaching (30 years) and teaching private music lessons (40 years) for four years. I hold a Bachelor degree in Music Education-elementary emphasis from The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. My experience and abilities in coaching hundreds of music students of all ages leaves me with so many lovely memories of lives I had the honor to be a part of. Many of my students encouraged their younger siblings as well as their parents to begin music lessons with me. Because I was able to teach several instruments as well as voice I could coach a student who wanted to explore different instruments. I now have the pleasure of seeing former students continue in music performance and education challenging their own students to realize their full potential, as I had the pleasure of coaching children and adults to reach their goals.
As a substitute teacher in public and private schools, I was called upon to teach classes from Pre-School through High School in all subjects including Self-Contained and Special Ed. I loved being able to get to know kids in so many different settings as I would see them in one class one day, and in another class the next.
My teaching experience and abilities are not wasted even though I retired. I am a past Commander of an Awana club and am currently song leader and teacher in another Awana club as well as Sunday School teacher and Children's Choir leader at my church.
In Awana I have the joy of helping kids uncover their ability to memorize and learn
biographies of people from our past. Each summer I volunteer at a week long Awana camp and even though I work in the Junior High dining room, I feel blessed to be able to serve in a way which taps into my natural love for kids. I love being around kids. At camp I get to be with around 300 of them for a whole week!
I hope you will allow me to help you realize your potential and ability. You will be amazed with yourself as you gain the power to reach your goal.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I began a career teaching private music in 1972. I have coached students on a variety of musical instruments, including drums. Contact me if you want to learn trap set, marching drum line, marimba, xylophone, tympani, or any of the orchestral percussion accessories.
I learned how to play the flute when I was a part of an adult Swinging Big Band where I doubled on sax, clarinet, and flute. Playing flute with our church worship team refined my skills nicely so I began to offer flute lessons to my private music students. During flute lessons we learn the basics of care of the instrument, music reading and improvisation, intonation, phrasing, vibrato, articulation as well as poise needed for performances. I love to send students home with the ability to fill the air with lovely music.
I am blessed to be in a position to use my BME-elementary emphasis for private music lessons as well as in group situations. I am the leader of our children's choir at my church, song leader for the children's Sunday School, and Awana. My years of experience in teaching General Music is a wonderful asset as we explore all the varieties of sound production including the voice, recorders, keyboards, music reading, and improvisation. Let's begin to make a joyful noise together.
I have been teaching guitar since 1971. My students learn how to play from written music as well as how to improvise. Students readily learn music theory while studying guitar. We explore exercises for finger strength and flexibility needed to strum as well as fingerpicking.
I love working with students on piano. Since graduating University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor degree in Music Education-elementary emphasis in 1979, my students have been successful with learning to play piano. My piano students learn to play from written music as well as learn to compose their own music.
