Bio

I am an experimental scientist at an energy startup. I hold a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Columbia University and a PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan.

Beyond my professional history, I enjoy working with young students, particularly in middle and high school. As someone who benefited greatly from a few, key enthusiastic teachers in my early education, I feel I have a certain responsibility to help others academically if I can. I think that every...

Beyond my professional history, I enjoy working with young students, particularly in middle and high school. As someone who benefited greatly from a few, key enthusiastic teachers in my early education, I feel I have a certain responsibility to help others academically if I can. I think that every child has the potential to do (and learn!) great things, even if they cannot see it themselves. I only hope I can play some role in helping them realize it their potential.

Lifesaver

Makes my daughter feel like she's "got it"

Joshua thinks ahead and comes up with new ways to present a concept so that, if it was hard to get in class, he is showing it to my daughter in a different way that clicks. The other thing I have noticed is that he is checking comprehension at every step of a problem - asking "okay, and why do we know that is true?" or "now what if that were a negative, what would be true instead?". He does it in a comfortable and non-scary way and my daughter feels prepared!
