I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching along with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and I gained teaching certifications in both subjects. That combination gives me real subject expertise in English alongside a genuine understanding of how people actually learn, which I use to tailor my approach to each student rather than teaching everyone the same way. I believe strongly in the power of education, and that every student has the ability to succeed when they're given the right support to get there.
I spent several years teaching English in a secondary classroom setting, where I developed patient, practical methods for breaking grammar, reading comprehension, and writing skills down into steps that actually make sense — rather than just memorizing rules. My favorite part of teaching has always been watching a student realize that they're capable of something they didn't think they could do.
For roughly five years, I also tutored English language learners from around the world through virtual platforms, helping non-native speakers build both conversational fluency and stronger writing skills. During the disruptions of COVID, I worked one-on-one in a virtual setting, with students in the US to help them catch up academically after lost classroom time. While my degree and classroom teaching experience focused on secondary education, I've spent significant time tutoring elementary-aged students as well, particularly on reading and writing fundamentals, and I'm comfortable adjusting my teaching style across a wide age range. Whether a student needs help with essay writing, proofreading and editing, general English skills, or ESL support, I bring real classroom and tutoring experience, patience, and genuine investment in their progress.

Approved Subjects

Creative Writing

Creative Writing

I have a degree in English Teaching and real classroom experience, but creative writing has always been a passion of mine. I'm a published author, though I write under a pen name I keep separate from my teaching and coaching work. That means I bring real, working knowledge of storytelling, voice, and revision, not just theory. I've worked with students on developing their own creative writing, and I also enjoy coaching adult writers working on their own projects, whether that's finding your voice, strengthening structure, or simply getting unstuck. Wherever you are in your writing, my goal is to help you grow as a writer and get your story onto the page the way you want it told.
English

English

I have a bachelor’s degree in English teaching and spent several years teaching English in a secondary classroom, covering grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, and literature. I've also tutored students individually, both in person and virtually, which has helped me hone my ability to customize my approach to fit better fit each student’s individual needs. Whether it's cleaning up grammar, improving an essay, or better understanding a piece of literature, I meet students where they are and build from there.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching and am certified in the subject, along with roughly five years of experience teaching English to language learners from around the world through virtual platforms. That experience has given me real, practical insight into the specific challenges non-native speakers face, from pronunciation and grammar patterns to building conversational confidence. I focus on meeting each student where they are, whether that means starting with foundational vocabulary and sentence structure or helping a more advanced learner refine fluency and nuance. My goal is always to help students feel genuinely confident communicating in English, not just technically correct.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching and spent several years teaching essay writing in a secondary classroom, working with students on everything from building a clear thesis to organizing ideas logically from start to finish. I've also tutored students individually, both in person and virtually, helping them move from a rough draft to a polished, well-structured essay. I focus on more than just fixing grammar as I help students think through their argument or point clearly, since a strong essay starts with clear thinking, not just clean sentences. Whatever stage a student is at, from brainstorming to final revisions, I meet them where they are and build from there.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

I am a published author myself, though I write under a pen name I keep separate from my teaching and coaching work, so I bring real, working knowledge of how fiction actually gets built, not just theory. I have a degree in English Teaching and classroom experience helping students develop their own stories, from early ideas through full drafts. I also enjoy coaching adult writers working on their own fiction, whether that's developing believable characters, structuring a plot that holds together, or finding a clearer, more consistent narrative voice. Wherever a writer is in their story, I help them strengthen the craft without losing what makes it theirs.
Literature

Literature

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching and spent several years teaching literature in a secondary classroom, helping students move beyond just reading a text to actually understanding and analyzing it. I focus on helping students identify theme, structure, and author's intent, and on building the kind of close-reading skills that make discussing or writing about literature feel less intimidating. I've also worked with students individually, both in person and virtually, tailoring my approach depending on whether a student needs help with a specific assignment or wants a deeper understanding of a text as a whole. Whatever the goal, I help students engage with literature in a way that actually sticks.
Reading

Reading

Reading was a major struggle for me as a kid. That's part of why I know firsthand what it feels like to fall behind, and what it takes to catch up. I've worked with students in classroom settings and private virtual tutoring, at every reading level. Many have gone from well below grade level to on grade level. Some have even reached advanced reading ability over time. That kind of progress takes real, sustained effort. I put just as much energy into keeping a student motivated as I do into the reading skills themselves. Whatever a student needs, phonics fundamentals, stronger comprehension, more fluent reading, I meet them where they're at and build from there.
Writing

Writing

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching and spent several years teaching writing in a secondary classroom, covering everything from grammar and sentence structure to essay organization and clarity. I'm also a published author, which means I bring real, working knowledge of how writing comes together, not just rules from a textbook. I've tutored students individually as well, both in person and virtually, which has helped me hone my ability to customize my approach to fit what each student needs. Whether it's tightening an essay, cleaning up grammar, or helping a student find a clearer way to say what they mean, I meet students where they are and build from there.
