After many years of hard work I have earned both a BAE (Bachelor of Arts in Education) in Physics and an MS in Physics. However, I feel that it is my 17 years of high school teaching experience that sets me apart from other potential tutors. I know firsthand the topics that typically cause confusion for a high school student. Over the years I have developed many different techniques for explaining abstract topics that help students to understand both physics and calculus at a more fundamental level. I am also able to create rigorous physics or calculus problems specifically for your student for additional practice where necessary.
I currently teach mathematics at a small university in Washington state. I regularly teach Calculus I , II and III at the university level . The Calculus sequence covers both AP Calculus AB, BC and additional topics not on the AP exam.

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to review my page. My calculus experience began as an undergraduate student at Eastern Washington University where I took and passed Calculus I, II , III and IV. I continued to use calculus to solve physics problems as a graduate student at California State University, Northridge. The greatest learning experience, however, was to actually teach Calculus BC at the high school level. I implemented the Calculus BC curriculum at my former high school and taught it successfully for two years before leaving for a university position.

Thank you for taking the time to review my qualifications. I began my study of physics as an undergraduate at Eastern Washington University. After a few introductory courses I decided to major in Physics and in the Spring of 1999 earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education in Physics. After relocating to southern California to teach math and physics at the high school level I decided to take graduate level physics classes at California State University, Northridge. I worked diligently to earn my Master of Science in Physics while teaching concurrently. Although I have completed many physics courses as a student I would have to say I learned more about physics through teaching. During my tenure as a high school teacher I taught AP Physics B, AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C Mechanics. After years of answering thought provoking questions from some of the brightest students in the country I can state with confidence that I am a qualified physics teacher/tutor.

Great Teacher

Ryan helped us with linearization. By teaching us what we needed to know, and showing us what concepts we missed, hhe reduced the burden navigating AP Physics during COVID.

getting the detailed and concise info I expected

Ryan is articulate and concise. He zeros in on what knowledge is needed to achieve the goal you are striving for. He is proactive and actively sought out what my goal was and tailored my session to that info. He is patient and precise with the time we spend together. I highly recommend him.

Great Tutor

My daughter had her first online session for AP Physics and found it very helpful. We will be booking more sessions for sure with Ryan. She had a prior tutor that fell flat. This session gave her a lot of confidence for moving forward.

Very knowledgeable and excellent tutor!!

Ryan taught my son AP physics. My son had over 20 lessons with Ryan. My son loves Physics and all the credit goes to Ryan. He is an awesome tutor who is available most of the times and always willing to help.

Excellent tutor

Our daughter has been regularly using Ryan this semester and he is excellent! She has a very heavy courseload this year and is always juggling her schedule. Ryan is able to accommodate all her requests and his tutoring is really helping her manage her heavy course load this semester. Ryan is currently tutoring her with AP Physics and Ryan makes difficult concepts easy to understand. He also makes the sessions interesting and our daughter is able to learn so much despite having to schedule some sessions late in the evening after she is done with her homework and assignments. I would definitely recommend Ryan to any student looking for an excellent tutor that is very knowledgeable and makes learning easy.
