Hi! I'm Bez! I am currently an English and East Asian Studies double major at Yale University. I look at everything from undergraduate college/scholarship application essays to creative work! In middle school, I found myself in tears finishing The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. I marveled at the power of story-telling, the ways in which words can invoke such vigorous emotions in readers. Since then, I have dedicated myself to perfecting the craft of writing.

I find college essays to be strange. In a stress-inducing process, you are suddenly asked to be authentic, condensing your entire life into a 650-word essay. Seems demoralizing, right? I have gone through this daunting process numerous times.
My writing has gained me early admission into Yale through the QuestBridge College Match process. This application process requires several essays on top of the normal College Application essays. Students that I have edited/coached previously have gained admissions into Yale, Stanford, Brown, and the University of St. Andrews! Recently, I have been involved with publications, most notably as an associate editor at The New Journal (TNJ). Just last year, an issue of TNJ I edited won the 2021 Best Collegiate Publication in the U.S. by the Society of Professional Journalists. My fiction and poetry have also been recognized nationally. I have participated in some of the best creative writing workshops for fiction and nonfiction (Yale and UIowa workshops).
During our lessons, I will provide the student with a page long analysis of their piece, with line-by-line edits. We will discuss thematic directions in their piece that would better tell the most compelling stories. Furthermore, we will read successful sample essays together. This same process will be applied to any creative writing tutees. My tutoring process is one that relies on the emotions of both the student and the intended audience. Together, we will collaborate and create not simply a college essay, but a beautiful snapshot of their life.
