I have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington Bothell, with a minor in Computer Science. I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is currently working towards getting my Professional Engineer (PE) license. My engineering education and professional experience have given me a strong foundation in mathematics, science, and analytical problem-solving.
I have 3 years of experience as a private Math and Science tutor, working with students ranging from middle school through college. Most of my tutoring experience has been one-on-one, with some experience in classroom settings. My favorite subjects to teach include Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Physics, Geography, and Chemistry. I enjoy working with students on subjects they find challenging and helping them build a strong understanding of the material through problem-solving and hands-on practice. I believe that understanding a concept is much more valuable than simply memorizing formulas or steps, because students are then able to apply what they have learned to new problems.
My approach is to work through problems together with my students, break difficult concepts into smaller steps that are easier to understand, and adjust my explanations based on each student's needs. I also create additional practice problems to reinforce concepts and strengthen areas where students may be struggling. Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while learning. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and help them become more independent learners.
