Hello! I majored in French Linguistics at Grand Valley State University with a double minor in English Language & Literature and Applied Linguistics. I also studied abroad at L'Université catholique de l'Ouest in Angers, France, and for two years, I lived abroad in the Netherlands working with a Christian student organization studying the Bible with university students. I've dabbled in learning Spanish and Arabic and spent some time over my two years in Holland learning Dutch. After my undergrad, I took a course to become certified to teach ESL/ESOL/EFL. In 2019, I graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Religion and Cultures.
During my time at Grand Valley, I worked with a high school student who needed help with her lower-level Spanish course as well as Algebra. I simultaneously had the joy of helping her mother with Proofreading, Grammar, and Writing as she pursued a degree in Nursing. Then, while working towards my Masters, I was delighted to work with international students at a nearby seminary, improving their understanding and use of English to help them in their advanced degrees.
I have several years of experience tutoring university students with Writing, Grammar, Linguistics and French. I have also enjoyed tutoring younger students; I spent two years working as a nanny for a family with kids aged 5 and 8. As part of my nannying position, I regularly helped them with their elementary-level homework. Now, as a mom myself, I am homeschooling my own kids through their early elementary years, teaching them reading, writing, math, science, history, and more.
It has been a joy to tutor each of these kinds of students, from 3 years old to adulthood, and to be able to see them gain confidence in their abilities and watch their grades rise! I hope to be able to help you in the same way!
