I believe in nature as the ultimate classroom. Willing students are encouraged to "take it outside" as we build trust, discuss goals, and learn in harmony with our environment. Through dedication to our education we build resiliency and enhance the joy of living every day.
I specialize with middle grade learners but have worked with students of all ages. My tutoring focuses on reading, writing, and study skills—helping students strengthen organization, confidence, and authentic self-expression. I’m especially passionate about creative expression and guiding young people to find their voice through storytelling and reflective writing. As an active artist, I enjoy incorporating interdisciplinary art-based lessons to encourage students to relax, reflect, and build confidence. I work with textiles, natural foraged materials, stained glass, book binding, sketching, and water colors.
Outside of teaching, I guide multi-day wilderness trips for teens and adults as a certified Wilderness First Responder and practicing herbalist. I bring strong cultural competency from years of working with homeschool and military families. Whether on the trail or in an online tutoring session, I help students develop curiosity, independence, and confidence.
Remember that students who don't like to read just haven't met the right books yet! Learning is an adventure that lasts a lifetime, "Let's Go!". . .
