During this time, I learned that second and third language students learn best when they are motivated using the language in the classroom, when they are connecting to other people, when they are engaged in authentic stories, and when real communication happens in a safe space. These practices, combined with an open and sincere connection with students, results in a genuine interest in the subject and a joyful experience for my students.
