I am a GIS professional with several years of experience working with geographic data, ArcGIS Pro, mapping, data management, and GIS automation. My educational background includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Anthropology, a GIS certificate, a Remote Sensing certificate, and additional training in Python, SQL. I am also completing a second bachelor’s degree in Geoscience. My professional GIS work has included creating and updating spatial datasets, working with parcel and government data, troubleshooting GIS workflows, and developing Python/ArcPy tools to automate repetitive GIS tasks.
I also have formal teaching experience as a teaching assistant for a Human Osteology course, where I helped students learn skeletal anatomy and identify and understand human remains. In addition, I have trained coworkers in GIS workflows, Python, debugging, and development tools. These experiences taught me how to explain technical or unfamiliar material in different ways depending on what a student is struggling with.
My tutoring style is patient, practical, and step-by-step. I like to start with a real example, break the problem into smaller pieces, and then work through it together. For programming topics, I can use pseudocode, heavily commented examples, and explanations that connect each part of the code to what it is actually doing. I can help with ArcGIS Pro, GIS fundamentals, geoprocessing, spatial data, introductory Python and ArcPy
