Licensed CPA and data analytics professional with eight years of experience. Pursuing a STEM Master of Science degree at the University of South Florida in Business Analytics & Information Systems. Triple-major undergraduate from the University of Michigan (Accounting + Finance + Economics).

My data experience includes working with large ERPs in SAP and Oracle. Programming with statistical-oriented languages such as Python and R is a hobby of mine. Using tools such as Alteryx and Power BI to gain efficiencies is a way in which I add value to a process. I also dabbled in web development via Ruby on Rails for back-end and HTML/CSS/Javascript for front-end.

I pride myself on making difficult technical concepts digestible and accessible to new learners. It isn't just the job, its the profession; being able to do my part to build it whether it be in accounting, finance or economics I find highly rewarding.

Approved Subjects

Business

Business

I hold a triple major baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Finance and Economics that consisted of a Bachelor of Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Arts. Recently I formed an LLC around my business, Kennedy Consulting & Analytics. Furthermore, I worked in corporate environments large, mid-sized and small for eight years. Currently I'm pursuing a government-designated STEM Master's degree in Business Analysis & Information Systems at University of South Florida's Muma College of Business.
Data Science

Data Science

My experience in the field includes leveraging Power BI to do a Global Inventory Rollforward for hundreds of thousands of stock keeping units at a biotech firm. Previously I had completed the Data Scientist learning course with Datacamp that required roughly 100 hours of Python and a bit of SQL. My SQL queries were used intensively during some projects back in college, and I have an introduction to VBA under my belt. I also completed a project in Tableau, and had a brief intro to R.
Econometrics

Econometrics

My background in Econometrics leveraged SPSS for statistical analysis in our class's main project. Utilizing regression analyses and statistical testing, I managed to illustrate possible correlations with coffee consumption internationally, as well as examine possible impact of coffee-tea substitution.
Financial Accounting

Financial Accounting

I’m a CPA who has done compliance for ASC 606, 740, and 815. I’ve also done review engagements for smaller clients.
Marketing

Marketing

My experience with marketing includes thinking critically around leveraging digital marketing metrics for helping businesses make effective decisions. I utilize Power BI, Alteryx and other Data Science tools for financial and operational data, and increasingly am leveraging it for digital marketing metrics. I especially thrive on integrating Digital Marketing with the reporting tools at my disposal, and am proud to be a General Assembly Certified Marketer Level 1 (CM1).
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

My time as a CPA has had me utilize Excel to do deep analysis of data pulling from an advanced skillset. This has included looking up and summarizing information through VLOOKUP, SUMIF and COUNTIF, as well as pivot tables. I also have an introductory knowledge of VBA, and have had much experience using logic to build nested IF statements.
Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook

My career in accounting, including my time in banking, made heavy usage of Microsoft Outlook. Even today I still use Outlook daily for my role in an accounting outsourcing firm. All of my meetings are color coded and I leverage the Appointment feature to block off time for analytical work, as well as my sign-off for the day. Lastly, I use Rules to apply text and sender filtering to automatically categorize emails into subfolders.
QuickBooks

QuickBooks

My time as a CPA leveraged utilization of QuickBooks for a number of features for my clients. Reporting functionality would be used to generate financials that fed reporting packages via QuickBooks Online. Rules generation for bank reconciliations greatly eased the burden of classifying transactions. 13-Week Cash Flow Forecasting using account transaction activity also helped create value for my clients.
Ruby

Ruby

When making my foray into programming, one of the first languages (and frameworks) I got into was Ruby on Rails back in Chicago. I did all of the prework for a coding bootcamp hosted by a friend of mine, and also got into some other web development courses he offered. My time learning Ruby on Rails extended eventually into other object-oriented languages like Java.
Tax Accounting

Tax Accounting

My expertise includes 3.5 years of flow-through entity compliance and 2 years of 1099/1042-S compliance. The flow-through entity experience (1065, 1120S) comes from a combination of Big 4 and non-Big 4 public accounting. 1099/1042-S compliance was practiced in a large bank. I also have some experience with Forms 1120, REITs, RICs, ASC 740, W-9s/W-8s, 1040 for individuals and 1041 for estates/trusts.
Writing

Writing

As a CPA, I have the privilege of writing technical emails for clients that break down difficult concepts into digestible guidance. Drafting procedures, business requirements documents (BRDs), meeting minutes, as well as correspondence with clients form the bulk of my experience. Content creation for corporate training, including technical information for Powerpoint presentations, is an important way for me to create value in each firm I work.

A tutor who helps when you ask for it.

I like Shane a lot. He gives me a chance to work on my homework problems that I bring to the session, and helps me when I ask for help answering a question or am struggling with a concept.
