Hello! My name is Hayley, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence in science and related subjects. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science: Geosciences from the University of Washington Tacoma in 2022, and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Science Education. I am preparing for student teaching, and I am eager to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for learning while supporting students outside the classroom.
I have hands-on experience working with students at the elementary, middle school and high school levels as a building substitute teacher and district substitute, where I guide classes in science, math, and general subjects. I also volunteer with school programs, including STEM clubs and theater, which gives me a well-rounded perspective on engaging learners with different interests and strengths. My tutoring approach focuses on patience, clear explanations, and breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps. I also enjoy incorporating real-world connections, especially in Earth and environmental sciences, so students can see the value of what they are learning.
Whether a student needs help mastering a challenging science concept, strengthening math skills, or preparing for assessments, I aim to provide supportive, personalized guidance. My goal is to help each student not only succeed academically but also feel more confident and capable as a learner.
