Hello!
My name is Melissa, I am a Highline Community College graduate. I have received my AA emphasis in Japanese through them, making my Japanese learning process a total of 6 years. I am planning on continuing my education with Japanese by receiving my Bachelor's next, and then my Masters in the Japanese language. I took Japanese through my Junior and Senior years in high school as well.
When I first took an interest in Japanese it was in sophomore year, yet I wasn't attending a school that had a Japanese program with it. That is when I transferred to Stadium High School where I was ecstatic to begin to learn. I was approved by my Sensei to begin in the 2nd year of Japanese because I self taught myself the basics in a short amount of time. I caught onto the language quickly, specifically the writing and the reading of it. I was then nominated to travel to Japan with my classmates, sadly because of money issues I was not able to go. But I will go someday and experience the culture first hand.
I have saved every piece of paper that I have collected over my six years of learning the Japanese language where I reference them to keep my skills sharp.
I have even influenced my cousin into taking the Japanese language and helped prepare her for her first year of high school and learning Japanese.
I am new to tutoring people but I do have confidence that this will be a fun and great learning experience for both the student and I. I am willing to travel!
