I hold a B.A. in English Language & Literature from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Harvard University. As a Teaching Fellow at Harvard, I received a Derek Bok Center Award for Excellence in Teaching. I have taught and mentored students from middle school through college, including highly motivated students seeking demanding intellectual engagement and exceptional results.

My approach is thoughtful and highly individualized. Whether preparing for the SAT, refining an academic essay, or developing a distinctive college application, I tailor each session to the student’s goals and intellectual style. My aim is not only to strengthen a particular piece of writing but also to cultivate sharper thinking, greater confidence, and lasting independence as a writer.

I was initially drawn to Xeni’s educational background in her Wyzant bio: holds a B.A. in English from the University of Chicago and a PhD in Comparative Literature from Harvard. Her hourly rate seemed extremely reasonable given her impressive academic background and extensive experience working with students. So I scheduled my first session, and I couldn’t be happier that I did! Xeni transforms my work in the best way possible. She never rushes and takes as much time as needed, but she still makes edits quickly and produces high-quality work. She’s thoughtful throughout the entire process – she always makes sure I’m happy with the writing, asks for my feedback, checks in with me, and clarifies things as needed. Xeni highlights the best aspects of my writing and makes it more concise and articulate. Xeni is brilliant!! I have had many writing tutors in the past but Xeni and I really clicked. She is incredibly patient and explains things in a way that is easy to understand. I had one online lesson with her and one offline; in both of them she was really helpful and gave me the guidance that I needed. I was a little nervous that I wasn't going to learn as much in the offline lesson, but she gave me a ton of feedback that was very understandable.
