About Jon

As a college student, I pursued all avenues of study because the opportunity was there. While I ended up as a psychology major, I picked up math and computer science minors as well and ran a recording studio from where I recorded over fifty songs, giving me much experience on rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar and Pro Tools.

I am proficient in all but the highest math and physics courses (although I have taken some of them since graduating college), and am proficient in programming C++ and assembly language programming as well as circuits and discrete mathematics.

I can teach middle school and high school math, including algebra, geometry, and even calculus and physics without trouble. For college, I can tutor lower level physics, discrete mathematics, differential equations, college calculus, geometry, and more - Linear Algebra and Differential Equations are new additions for those of you at C.C.

In addition, since my major was in psychology, I am available for psychology tutoring including subjects such as Abnormal Psychology, Neural Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, etc.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have tutored the most in algebra 1 and 2. I just finished tutoring my last client for about a year in algebra.

I graduated from college with a math / physics minor, so I have learned Calculus and beyond.

C++

I have a math minor and a computer science minor. I took all of the computer science classes that my school had to offer, including multiple classes in C++.

*Introduction to Computer Programming I (In C++)
*Introduction to Computer Programming II (In C++)
*Data Structures and Algorithms (in C++)
*Computer Architecture and Assembly Language Programming I
*Computer Architecture and Assembly Language Programming II
*Digital Electronics
*Web Design

The Introduction to Computer Programming classes taught me the basics of C++, which Data Structures and Algorithms taught me more advanced things. Digital Electronics touched on some concepts used in C++ programming and Computer Architecture and Assembly Langauge taught me the base language that C++ compiles into (so I learned a secondary language and got more insight into how C++ works).

During the classes, I would work together with people in the computer laboratory to solve problems and I would often help people in other classes and my own class with their programs. Taking higher-level programming classes helps make the lower-level programming easier. I kept my notes from the C++ classes I took, which are basically the computer programs I wrote printed out with explanations written in the margins. The goal of this was to help make my computer programs easier to understand in the future.

Songwriting

I have been a musician for over ten years, and recording in the studio for just as long.

When I went to The College of Idaho, I ended up running the recording studio there and collaborating on songs with many different musicians - I ended up recording over 50 different songs.

As such, I am good with song structure, techno, drum beats, rhythm and lead guitar, simple keys, and very proficient in bass guitar as well as lyric writing and vocals.

I have been involved with and performed at various concerts and festivals.

Trombone

I have been playing trombone since 6th grade, when I joined middle-school band. Since then, I have been in various pep bands, marching bands, jazz bands and concert bands.

At The College of Idaho, I participated in concert band for three years, as well as pep band. I can read sheet music just fine, even complex rhythms, and my range is suitable for tutoring - I can reach a high "F" and possibly a few notes higher than that.

I also own a trombone.
