Most recently, I have been teaching gen chem 2 at the community college level. Students have different learning styles, so it is important that I try different teaching styles. Students learn by doing, so I tend to guide students through the problems. Understanding is important, so I explain the concepts rather than have students memorize. I have experience teaching students with learning disabilities. Students have said that I am fair. I want students to succeed.
I have prepared general chemistry 2 students to be success for organic chemistry by making sure that they had a knowledge of acid base theory, kinetics, Lewis structures and other relevant topics. My students have told me that my general chemistry 2 course helped them to prepare for the MCAT. My community college students have gone on to become successful doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and dental assistants. Some of my students have become chemical engineers. My focus is to prepare students for the rigors of university level courses. I am patient and understand that chemistry is difficult. It takes a lot of work, but I can break down the concepts into understandable chunks.
