About Briana

Bio

I love working with students of all ages and ability. My priority is to understand the student's needs and meet them as quickly as possible. Often I am able to address study and homework habits and help students help themselves within a few weeks. When a student and tutor find a good fit, it is often easy to do short, drop-in sessions to quickly pick up a few concepts when each party knows and trusts the other. I look forward to building that trust.

My philosophy of education is...

I love working with students of all ages and ability. My priority is to understand the student's needs and meet them as quickly as possible. I look forward to building that trust.

My philosophy of education is hands-on experience and engaging students through questioning and exploration to ensure long-term retention. I teach middle school and high school math and science at a homeschool co-op. I have taught math and science both middle and high school, and offer tutoring through Calculus 2 and college level physics (2xx) and chemistry (1xx) as well as various STEM courses. My background includes a degree in Education and three years as a researcher for a Physics Learning Lab. It was in my third year of college that I switched from Chemistry to Physics, but I still really enjoy helping students understand what they are learning. My specialty is helping students create problem-solving strategies so they can study on their own, but I also enjoy providing help with lab write-ups and helping students improve their over-all grades.

Excellent physics tutor!

Briana was kind enough to squeeze in a last minute session to accommodate my daughter. She is extremely knowledgeable in physics. My daughter had difficulty understanding the lessons as her teacher explained them in class. After a couple of sessions with Briana, she feels so much more confident. Briana has simplified the information and explained it so much more clearly. I highly recommend her for tutoring!

Brianna has been helping me study for my college mathematics test and has been so helpful! My math skills are honestly embarrassing but with brianna I have the confidence to ask questions and I don’t feel pressured to do everything perfectly right off the bat. She just guides you to finding the right answer and right way to do things. She also has lots of helpful tips for test taking and keeping your mind clear and focussed while doing math. It’s been super helpful!

I'm not a huge fan of physics but Briana really helped me feel prepared for my upcoming exam! Once she knew how I processed information she gave me methods that really catered to me personally and gave me the confidence to do practice problems on my own.
