I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education as well as my Masters of Education in Literacy. I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education as well as my Masters of Education in Literacy. As a primary grades teacher, I have worked with over 200 students in their foundational years of schooling. It is my greatest joy to teach children to read.
During my time in the classroom, I have seen how some students continually struggle with reading. This prompted me to become Orton-Gillingham certified through the Dyslexia Training Institute. As a tutor, I offer individualized reading instruction tailored to your child's unique needs.
My approach is rooted in the Orton-Gillingham method, a highly effective, multisensory teaching style. This means I create personalized lessons that build a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics, the essential building blocks for successful reading. This method is beneficial for all readers, but especially helpful for those with dyslexia.
In each virtual session, I provide scaffolded support, guiding students as they learn to manipulate sounds, decode and read words, comprehend stories, and confidently apply these new skills to their writing. Together, we'll build not only reading proficiency but also a lifelong love for reading.
