I have experience supporting students with math and helping them understand concepts step by step. I have experience providing math support to elementary and middle school students in school and online tutoring settings. My work has included helping students develop skills in areas commonly addressed in grade-level mathematics, including number sense, addition, multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, and introductory algebra. While working in schools, I entered math classrooms and worked with students assigned to me by the classroom teacher, often focusing on students who needed additional support. I provided both one-on-one and small-group instruction. I helped students break down problems into manageable steps, use mathematical reasoning, and strengthen their understanding through guided practice rather than simply giving them answers. At the elementary level, I helped students strengthen foundational skills such as number recognition, operations, fractions, multiplication, and division. One student who initially struggled with number recognition made progress in identifying numbers, while another student developed a better understanding of division after receiving additional support. At the middle school level, I worked with a group of approximately seven students who needed additional support with geometry and introductory algebra problems. Through step-by-step explanations, examples, and guided practice, I helped the students develop a clearer understanding of the concepts they were learning in class. I have also provided online tutoring to a student in Pennsylvania who struggled with multiplication and division. The student improved their understanding and successfully passed the class by the end of the school year. I have completed a Professional Math Tutor Certification through the National Tutoring Association. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind mathematical procedures while building the skills and confidence needed to work more independently.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have two years of experience working as a general tutor with Tutors Impacting Public Schools (TIPS), providing academic support to elementary students in grades 1–5. In this position, I supported multiple students in both one-on-one and small-group settings. I provided assistance in English and math, with most of my tutoring focused on mathematics. I also hold a Professional Math Tutor Certification from the National Tutoring Association. At Dearborn Park Elementary School, I worked directly with students who needed additional academic support. Classroom teachers identified students who would benefit from extra assistance, and I worked with them individually and in small groups to reinforce skills taught in the classroom. Because I supported students across different elementary grade levels, I adapted my explanations, activities, and level of support according to each student's age, academic level, and individual learning needs. For example, I worked one-on-one with a first-grade student who needed additional support with foundational math skills, including counting, addition, number recognition, and identifying numbers from 1–100. I used repetition, visual examples, and guided practice to help the student strengthen these skills. Over time, the student improved in recognizing and identifying numbers that had previously been difficult. I also supported elementary students with grade-level skills such as addition, multiplication, division, and fractions. When students had difficulty understanding a concept, I broke the material into smaller steps, modeled examples, practiced the skill with them, and gradually encouraged them to work more independently. In addition to my experience in an elementary school setting, I have provided individual online tutoring to elementary-aged students. I explain problems step by step and use visual examples and practice activities to make concepts easier to understand. My goal is to help students build confidence while developing strong math skills.
