Hello, and thanks for looking at my profile.

I have spent close to twenty years in business, finance, and consulting. I started in research administration at MIT, where I managed a $77 million portfolio and supervised a team of finance professionals, and I now lead a consulting organization of about 60 people as Chief Delivery Officer. I have an MBA from Boston University and a bachelor's degree from Bates College, where I wrote my thesis in both Spanish and English. Before business school I spent three years in Japan teaching English, and I learned Japanese as an adult, which gave me a lot of sympathy for how hard it is to become fluent in a second language.

I work with adults and older students. In ESL, I focus on spoken fluency and workplace communication, things like meetings, presentations, and the ordinary conversations that are harder than they look. In Excel, business, statistics, and project management, I help college students and working adults who are stuck on coursework or on something they need to do at their job. I also work on interview preparation and career development, where being an executive who hires and promotes people gives me a useful sense of what interviewers are actually listening for.

My approach is to find where the understanding broke down rather than reteach a subject from the beginning. Most students who are struggling are not struggling with everything. They are stuck on one or two ideas that the rest depends on, and finding those is usually most of the work. I keep sessions focused on whatever is in front of you, whether that is an exam next week, a presentation on Friday, or a conversation you want to handle more confidently. Learning also goes better when nobody feels embarrassed, so I am not going to interrupt every sentence or make you feel behind.

I am flexible on scheduling, I meet in person around Seattle or online, and I usually respond within an hour. If you have questions before deciding anything, just ask.

Approved Subjects

Business

Business

I hold an MBA in Strategy and Business Analysis from Boston University's Questrom School of Business. I currently serve as Managing Partner and Chief Delivery Officer at a consulting firm, where I lead an organization of roughly 60 people. My background covers strategy, operations, financial management, and organizational design, including managing a $77 million portfolio earlier in my career at MIT. I help students connect textbook frameworks to how businesses actually operate.
Career Development

Career Development

I am an executive who hires, promotes, and develops consultants, and I have reviewed hundreds of resumes and made hiring decisions at every level from analyst to director. I hold an MBA from Boston University and have advanced through finance, software, and consulting careers myself. I help people position their experience honestly and effectively rather than filling their materials with generic language. I work on resumes, positioning, career transitions, and figuring out what to target next.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I spent five years in Japan as an English teacher and program coordinator, working with students across a wide range of proficiency levels. I also speak Japanese at a professional working level and Spanish at a working level, so I understand the process of learning a language as an adult. My focus is business and professional English, including presentations, meetings, email, and interview preparation. I work well with adults preparing for academic or workplace settings.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I have conducted hundreds of interviews as a hiring executive across consulting, software, and finance organizations, and I know what interviewers are actually assessing behind each question. I have also been through the process myself at senior levels. I work with candidates on behavioral interviews, case-style questions, executive presence, and preparing specific examples that hold up under follow-up questions. Mock interviews with direct feedback are usually the fastest way to improve.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

I have used Excel professionally for close to twenty years across finance, software, and consulting, including managing a $77 million financial portfolio at MIT and building revenue and resource forecasting models for a 60-person consulting organization. I completed advanced Excel coursework and hold an MBA in Strategy and Business Analysis from Boston University. I work comfortably with lookup functions, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data validation, and financial modeling, and I can explain not just how a formula works but when to use it. Most students I help are stuck on a specific task, so I focus on solving that first and then filling in the underlying concepts.
Project Management

Project Management

I have spent nearly two decades running client-facing projects and the teams that deliver them. As Chief Delivery Officer at a consulting firm, I oversee project delivery across more than 100 active clients with a team of about 60 consultants. I have direct experience with scope definition, resource planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, and both waterfall and agile approaches. I can help with coursework, PMP concepts, or applying project management in an actual job.
