Hi, my name is Peter F. I graduated from Whitman College with a degree in Mathematics/Economics in 2023 with a GPA of 3.6, where I competed for 4 years in Division 3 NCAA swimming. I have a strong work ethic, I am passionate about education, and I am intimately familiar with what it takes to succeed while managing a heavy academic workload. In high school, I took a total of 10 AP classes and achieved a score of 1550 on the SAT.

I have worked with several high school and college students in math ranging from pre-algebra to college level multivariable calculus. I worked as a class tutor for a calculus 2 section at Whitman College in which I held drop-in tutoring sessions for 6 hours per week for a semester. I have experience working with students trying to catch up after falling behind in a class, students retaking classes that they have previously failed, as well as students preparing for tests and trying to get ahead.

I believe in taking into consideration each student's unique experience with math in order to best help them reach their goals. Rather than memorizing formulas and plugging and chugging, I prefer to help students understand the underlying concepts that they are working with in math so that they can solve problems on their own. Building up your toolbox of math skills is important, but equally important is understanding when to apply the skills you already know.

I have worked with all ages of kids from 4-18 as a swim coach for a summer league swim team. I now work as an educator for the Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM) to achieve a mission of sparking each and every person to love math. I wholeheartedly believe that every student can love math, and I look forward to helping your student achieve their goals.
