I'm a life long lover of learning and love sharing knowledge. I grew up in the Seattle area, graduating from Mercer Island High School in 2012 where I spent a year as a Spanish teacher's assistant. I spent the next 4 years completing my B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Villanova University. While there I worked as an undergraduate research assistant in a catalysis lab focused on renewable energy. I also tutored precalculus while in my undergrad. After graduating I worked an internship with the Albuquerque Water Authority before finally returning home to Washington for a Sales Engineering position. I've been in that position until recently when I was promoted to head an Industrial Process Engineer division.
Because of the diverse experiences I've had I can teach a number of STEM fields; but math, chemistry, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics are my strong suits. Because of my job and the education it required I'm very familiar with math from algebra to calculus.
My education included near constant chemistry courses and work in chemistry labs. This was further reinforced by work in a catalysis lab as an undergraduate research assistant. The skills are very fresh as I'm preparing to take my engineering licensure exam in chemical engineering soon.
I've always been a very outside the box thinker and I've found that can be a strength when tutoring. Sometimes a concept might not click with a student the way it's presented in a textbook or class. I've found one of my strengths is being able to reframe things in a variety of ways a student might find relatable.
I've also had success in the past in breaking multi step problems down to more basic steps, and identifying where there's already a good level of understanding and the challenges come from.
I'd be a great match for any students that would benefit from a variety of different approaches to challenging subject matters. Feel free to reach out if you think I might be a good fit. I'm happy to talk over any way I can be of help.
