My passion for teaching comes from my love to help students to learn and improve their ability to solve chemical problems. I have a PhD in chemistry and have been teaching chemistry in the classroom and one on one private setting for almost a decade. I am a teaching assistant in the department of chemistry at Howard University, Washington, DC. My areas of specialization are general chemistry and analytical chemistry. I teach general and organic chemistry with passion.
I first assess the current understanding of the material by the student, then attempt to fill the knowledge gaps that might exist. Learning chemistry is a step-wise process and I believe that building from a good understanding of chemical concept is a recipe for success. My goal for each session is to help the student to understand chemistry concepts and to apply these concepts in solving chemical problems. I test the student's understanding of the studied material by assigning a challenging homework after every lesson and provide a timely assessment. Using the feedback from the homework informs my tutoring and enhance the student learning. After the material is assimilated, I set up a practice quiz with the student. This help to prepare the student for evaluation in class.
I listen to the learning challenge of my student and provide a simple way to overcome the challenge. Also, I constantly ask for feedback on my performance, because the student satisfaction is important to me. I welcome feedback information that will enhance the student learning and passion for chemistry and other subjects.
I am flexible with meeting arrangements and work at student convenience. The tutoring session can either occur in a public settling, such as a library, college campus, at the student home. I look forward to meeting new student and sharing with them my passion for chemistry.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught organic chemistry as teaching assistant and part of PhD research is in the synthesis of organic molecule. I have earned my PhD in chemistry. I have done a lot of research in organic chemistry. Synthesis of organic molecule and its structural determination. I teach organic chemistry with passion. It has been my desire to help many students understand the principle behind organic chemical reaction and how to write reaction mechanism. Once a student understand reaction mechanism, he/she can predict reaction product.
I have a research experience using spectroscopic techniques to determine the structure of organic product.
