Hi! I’m a Duke graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Math and Computer Science and a one-year master’s degree in Computer Science. I can tutor a broad range of math topics from middle-school through advanced college, including algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, discrete math, probability, and combinatorics. I can also help students with SAT, ACT, and PSAT math (I had perfect PSAT, SAT, and ACT scores); proof writing; and competition. In computer science, I can help students with introductory programming, data structures and algorithms, and competitive programming.
I have three years of experience as a Duke teaching assistant for Calculus, Discrete Math, Probability, and Algorithms. Additionally, in high school, I completed over 400 hours of volunteer teaching with my math team. I also worked as an AoPS grader and message-board assistant, providing personalized feedback on students’ written solutions in competition-math courses ranging from AMC to Olympiad-level. In these capacities, I have helped students understand difficult concepts, work through problem sets, prepare for exams, and strengthen the problem-solving skills needed for more advanced coursework. I have also developed lesson plans, tests, homework assignments, and competition problem sets.
I have competed extensively in both math and computer science from high school through college. My experience includes five AIME qualifications, two AMC Distinguished Honor Roll finishes, strong ARML results, a top-200 individual Putnam finish and third-place Putnam team result, USACO, and the International Collegiate Programming Contest. In tutoring sessions, I focus on developing understanding rather than rote memorization. My goal is not only to help students solve the problem in front of them, but also to help them recognize patterns, approach unfamiliar problems confidently, and become more independent learners. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your goals and determine whether I would be a good fit!
