Hi! My name is Dion and I have over 10 years experience in software engineering and civil engineering. I graduated with a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and have since worked as a civil engineer for cities, municipal engineering consultants, and environmental and surface water consultants. I also have experience as a software engineer for companies in the educational technology and insurance industries, holding a certificate in web development as my main credentials. Additionally, I coach high school football at the 4A level, and have coached (and refereed) youth soccer.
I have been a tutor for various subjects as early as the age of 12 for reading and 16 for math, with experience in math up to Calculus 3. As part of my degree, I have taken math and science courses such as advanced multivariable calculus, chemistry, and physics, with limited formal experience tutoring such subjects, mostly collaborating with other peers for these classes. However, I have tutored students in the past for introductory fluid mechanics, web development, and groundwater hydrology (geohydrology).
My experience as a coach and tutor has given me tons of face to face interactions with kids 7 and older, and I have leaned on these to communicate effectively and get my students to understand academic material from multiple perspectives.
