I'm Nelson! I am a double graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. During my undergrad, I completed an additional major in Economics and minors in French and Math.
I can tutor Middle School, High School and College level Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Single Variable Calculus, Multi Variable Calculus, and Linear Algebra. Additionally, I can tutor students towards subject exams: SAT subject tests: Math 1 / 2, ACT Math. AP Calculus AB / BC.
I can tutor Middle School, High School and College level Physics: Intro Physics, Classical Mechanics, and Electricity and Magnetism. Additionally, I can tutor students towards subject exams: SAT subject test: Physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism.
Throughout High School (from 9th grade till 12th grade), I tutored fellow students (1-on-1) in Math and Physics breaking down problems and helping them understand the fundamentals to help them complete assignments and prepare for exams. Additionally, I scored 5's on AP Calc AB & AP Calc BC and AP Physics C: Mechanics as well as other subjects. I also scored near perfect scores on the SAT Subject Tests as well as the ACT.
During University, I was a TA (classroom), note taker (classroom) and tutored students (1-on-1 and in groups) in a variety of classes (Math, Economics, Mechanical Engineering). Also, I was accepted into the French Honor Society.
Teaching has been a gratifying experiences as great teachers helped me excel and I aim to help students enjoy a subject more. I do this by deconstructing complex problems and explaining and walking through the problems with students. I've experienced the benefit of this method firsthand with past students I have worked with and strive to continue to help students understand and enjoy STEM.
