Hi, I'm Nancy. I'm a computer science student at University of Washington's Paul G. Allen school of Computer Science and Engineering, and have extensive experience with tutoring computer science and mathematics. Although I am new to Wyzant, I have been tutoring middle school and high school students in both subjects for over 4 years.
For computer science, I've helped students through Intro to Computer Science, Data Structures, and Fundamentals of Logic courses, and with AP Computer Science A exam preparation. With guidance, my students have grown from completely confused to fully understanding subjects like recursion, binary trees, stacks/queues, linked lists, maps, and hash tables.
For math, I have experience preparing students for both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC exams, along with Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, and Differential Equations.
As a tutor, I don't just parrot answers and solutions to my students, but instead aim to help my students develop an intuitive and conceptual understanding. I ensure my students truly understand the fundamentals and inner workings behind a subject, either through visual diagrams, metaphors, or proofs.
