I’m Celina! I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. After working for several years, I attended Western Governors University and completed a post-baccalaureate program in Elementary Education. I hold a valid Utah Educator’s license and taught in the classroom for one year. That year in the classroom helped me realize that I do best, and therefore my students are more engaged and comprehending more, when I can work with them one-on-one or in a small group.
I first started tutoring when I was in high school. I tutored peers and underclassmen in Math and Spanish my last two years of high school. Following college, I spent several months tutoring a 7th grader in all subjects, helping him understand things he was missing at school and learning to explain concepts in multiple ways to help tricky concepts click. I have worked with elementary-aged students on everything from learning the alphabet and counting to advanced vocabulary, reading comprehension, and multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. I believe in a multisensory approach to teaching and learning. I use research-based methods that will support each student’s needs and strive to find ways to meet each student where they are and help them grow.
I want to help each student as much as possible and welcome input from students and parents on resources or things that may help me as I work with the student. I will always be quick to respond to any correspondence. I do provide a free consultation meeting to go over any questions you may have and to learn how you are hoping I can help you or your student. Feel free to contact me to learn more, schedule a free consultation, or schedule a lesson!
