Bio

What I do best is engage students one-on-one or in very small groups. The conscientious student will learn the material, and will learn to think critically about the material. Chances are that we will have a good time doing it. [That's really all I have to say, but the form I'm filling out requires a minimum of 250 words for some unexplained reason (no critical thinking allowed?) so I'm continuing to write, giving you some background and maybe insight into the process I'm going through...

I wonder if that's 250 yet.]

I am currently teaching English to students from Poland and India, for whom English is a second language. My strong background in English speaking and writing, as well as theatre and public speaking, enable me to do this very well. I work hard to tailor all my classes to the student's specific needs.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

For five years I was head of the drama department at the Woodstock Country School, grades 9-12, where I taught acting classes and directed plays. For about 20 years I directed a small comedy company in which my work included working with actors in different media -- radio, television, stage. I was also one of the actors. For about 20 years (overlapping), I presided as a judge in small claims court, where I was practicing public speaking all the time. My tutoring approach would vary, depending on the goals of the student.
