While my experience has primarily been in school settings rather than formal private tutoring, I have extensive experience providing one-on-one and small-group academic support and helping students build confidence and achieve measurable progress.

Approved Subjects

ADHD

ADHD

I am a licensed Special Educator for grades K–8 and have professional experience supporting students with ADHD in educational settings. I recognize that students learn and demonstrate their understanding in different ways, so I adapt instruction to help them engage with material and work toward their academic goals. I use clear directions, manageable steps, visual supports, structured routines, and opportunities for active participation when appropriate for the student. I also have experience collaborating with educators and following individualized educational plans and classroom accommodations to support student progress. My goal is to help students build academic skills, develop effective learning habits, and feel confident in their abilities.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am a licensed Special Educator for grades K–8 and have experience working with students with ASD, ADHD, and OHI. Working with students with ASD has taught me the importance of getting to know each student as an individual and understanding what helps them feel comfortable and successful. I focus on building trust, using consistent routines, and adapting my approach to meet each student's needs. I also work with other Special Educators and related service providers to make sure we are all on the same page and to follow any IEP, 504, or EST.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Inclusive Childhood Education and have professional experience teaching and supporting students across elementary grades. As a fifth- and sixth-grade literacy teacher, I planned lessons, monitored student progress, and used classroom assignments and assessments to identify areas where students needed additional support. My experience also includes working with elementary students as a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, and student teacher in general education and special education settings. I understand the elementary curriculum and how foundational skills develop over time, and I enjoy helping students make connections between concepts, strengthen their understanding, and become more independent learners.
Handwriting

Handwriting

Worked hard on handwriting at the beginning of the year: how to correctly hold pencils, pens, etc. Used Handwriting Without Tears; eventually got my students to write in cursive.
Homeschool

Homeschool

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Inclusive Childhood Education and experience teaching students in grades K–6, I can help homeschooling families reinforce academic concepts and support their children's learning goals. My classroom experience includes planning instruction, monitoring progress, and adjusting lessons based on students' strengths and areas for growth. I can provide additional support with elementary-level assignments, review challenging concepts, and help students practice skills at a pace that supports their understanding. I value working with families to understand their educational priorities and help students develop independence, curiosity, and confidence in their learning.
Reading

Reading

I have experience teaching reading across K–8 and enjoy helping students build confidence in reading. I have worked with students on phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and responding to texts. I do this all while adjusting instruction based on their individual needs. I also use read-alouds, guided reading, graphic organizers, and high-interest texts to help students strengthen their skills and stay engaged. My goal is to help students become more confident, independent readers while making reading feel fun and meaningful.
Spelling

Spelling

Working with K-6, I consistently work on spelling. Finding new tricks to help students remember certain words, blend sounds, give spelling tests, and do small-group work. By doing these things, I got my students to go from below grade level to meeting the benchmark, or rising above the mark by the middle of the year.
Writing

Writing

When teaching writing in K–6, I like to focus on building students’ skills step by step. We work on editing skills, finding and using appropriate resources, understanding plagiarism, and becoming comfortable with different writing tools. I use templates and graphic organizers, such as the “hamburger” model, to help students understand the structure of writing, including the beginning, middle, and end. I also teach students how to use tools such as Google Docs, which will help them practice writing, editing, and using technology safely. It is my goal to make students strong and confident writers.
