I earned a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, San Diego. I specialize in modern European and world history, with a research background in political, social, and global studies. In addition to history, I worked extensively as a college writing instructor, helping students develop robust thesis statements, structure essays, and revise for clarity, evidence, and style.

I have over ten years of teaching experience in both university and community college settings, ranging from World History to 1500 to upper-division classes on European nationalism, empires and colonialism, and globalization. I have worked with high school students, undergraduates, graduates, and returning adult learners in classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings. I try to meet students where they are and take pride in adapting my approach to each student’s individual goals and learning style.

I can help you understand history, literature, and other social science course material; prepare for exams and essays; conduct research and analyze sources; and build strong, evidence-based arguments. My study techniques will help you approach the subject in a way that makes sense for your own mind. History isn't about memorizing dates, places, and names, but about developing skills to make sense of the vast human experience.

As an accomplished recipient of offers from competitive graduate programs, prestigious fellowships, and research grants, I am also an excellent choice for those writing admissions essays, internship applications, and career cover letters. I support students through every stage of the process, from brainstorming to outlining to the final draft.
As a writing tutor, I will support you through every stage of the process—from brainstorming and outlining to revising final drafts—while emphasizing skills you can carry into the future.
