Hi, I’m Dan. I am a School Tutor at a Vermont high school and I am currently completing my B.S. in Secondary Science Education with a concentration in Chemistry through Western Governors University. I work with students in real classrooms every day, helping them stay on track, understand assignments, and continue learning when their regular teacher is absent.

I specialize in Chemistry, Physical Science, Algebra 1, Prealgebra, Elementary Math, Elementary Science, and Social Studies. My tutoring style is patient, clear, and step-by-step. I work especially well with students who feel overwhelmed, behind, confused, or convinced that they are “not good at math” or “not science people.” My goal is to help students understand what they are doing, why it works, and how to approach similar problems with more confidence.

In chemistry and physical science, I help with atoms, compounds, reactions, the periodic table, bonding, solutions, acids and bases, measurement, graphing, matter, energy, and lab-related assignments. In math, I help with fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, variables, equations, graphing, word problems, and the algebra skills needed for science.

During a typical session, I ask what the student is working on, what they already understand, and where the confusion begins. Then we work through the material using guided questions, examples, visuals, practice problems, and check-ins. I do not just show students the answer. I help them learn the process so they can become more independent.

I am a good fit for students who need homework help, test preparation, study support, catch-up help, lab report guidance, or extra explanation in a calm and encouraging setting. I am also happy to communicate with parents or guardians about what we covered, what improved, and what to focus on next.
