Hello!
My name is Kenna an I am a biologist and environmental scientist, with multiple years of experience in science education both as a teacher and public educator. I graduated with a BS in Biology from Florida State University in 2018, where I assisted with behavioral genetics research. Since then have worked in a range of positions in science including as a public school teacher in both Florida, where I taught 6th Grade comprehensive science and Maryland, where I taught 8th grade science. Outside of public schools, I have worked as an educator in marine life and environmental science through the Florida Aquarium and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Apart from science, I am also certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), through the International TEFL Academy.
As an educator, my approach to tutoring relies on helping students integrate lessons into their real world experiences, to enhance understanding and retention. During the free introductory lesson, I work with students to learn more about their learning goals and learning styles, so that I can tailor each lesson to the student, helping to maximize their learning potential. My goals are to help make topics approachable, to help build confidence, and establish strong foundations for knowledge retention for students.
