Everyone learns and uses language a little bit differently -- I work hard to understand how my students learn best and am interested in helping them meet their goals. Different settings lend themselves to different kinds of language-learning activities, but I like to use conversation, music, visual images, and games as much as possible.
I have walked across Spain (twice!) on the Camino de Santiago, and I've led student trips in Spain, Peru, Guatemala, and Turkey. I have also studied and worked in journalism and photography, and have taught photography as well. I love learning from students of all ages about what interests them.
I am certified to teach Spanish grades 7 - 12 in New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. I am fully fluent in Spanish, and have lived and worked extensively in the Spanish-speaking world.
I have a Master's degree in Journalism with a focus on photojournalism. I have taught photography to high school and college students, and I have worked independently as a documentary photographer for many years.
