Hello! My name is Darren and I studied K-12 education and art with a concentration in graphic design. After graduating in 1996, I worked in a K-12 district instructing over 450 students weekly across eight grade levels in drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and Adobe graphic design programs. During my tenure, I ran "boost groups" bridging math learning gaps through visual art, established our lacrosse program, advised the Art Club, and collaborated with the student senate to build a peer-tutoring system. In 2005, I earned my Master's degree in Internet Engineering from Marlboro College Graduate Center, gaining deep technical expertise in full-stack web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL). By 2006, I founded a company helping non-profits build their online presence, anchoring a 35-year background of hands-on technical experience and business ownership.

My instructional methodology leverages a skills-based approach and the pyramid of retention, adapting content formats for different learning styles. I view technical mastery as progressive steps; my strength lies in diagnosing a student's current level and providing the exact scaffolding needed to bridge any gaps. Rather than lecturing, I structure lessons to spark organic curiosity, encouraging students to test boundaries and encounter problem-solving opportunities through trial and error. I introduce concepts by anchoring them to existing knowledge, modeling the next step, and working through exercises together before empowering learners to work independently and take full control at an advanced level.

As a fair and patient mentor, I find immense fulfillment in guiding individuals toward personal milestones. My dual background as a classroom veteran and business owner allows me to deliver structured, empathetic, and industry-relevant tutoring. I focus on project-driven success to demystify the Adobe Creative Suite alongside full-stack programming tools. I look forward to helping you create a new hobby, launch a side hustle, or prepare for a new career!
