I am a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor's of Science majoring in Physics. Also, am currently pursuing a Master's and Ph.D. in physics at the University of Vermont with an emphasis on Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. While I was an undergraduate I also minored in both mathematics and computer science. Throughout all of my educational experience, I find myself loving the teaching of new material as much or more than I do learning said material. It is my goal to teach this material to as many students as I can and make a big difference in the way they approach and understand both mathematics and physics. With every student, I work with I think about how I can grow and understand a subject better to help future students. I always try to learn new things and find new ways of thinking to pass my ever-growing understanding of the next student.
I tutored for all four years at college and I did formal tutoring for the university for two and a half of those years. I have continued tutoring professionally for 2 additional years here on Wyzant and on my own for a grand total of 6+ years of tutoring experience. During this time I acquired more knowledge and understanding of the subjects and students I tutored and I developed a patience that is required to tutor these potentially difficult subjects. I love to see students learn and I love to see a student finally understand something that they didn't before. Passing on my knowledge is one of the greatest gifts I can give in my opinion and it is the way I make a positive change in the world. My teaching style revolves around creating fundamental understanding, fixing bad habits, and helping students avoid the common pitfalls. I love giving students resources that I create and go out of my way to create those resources for students. I don't believe in the common teaching methods of memorization and doing things like a robot. I want students to think about problems and understand problems on a fundamental level so they can go on and do better
A very caring and passionate tutor.
I met Andrew about a year ago through Wyzant through a classmate that recommended this young man. I was skeptical at first, due to this being a virtual interaction and the complexity of the subject we were learning. I was coming into our first tutor session very intimidated by math and even more scared of word problems. If you know anything about physics, their are two certainties, lots of math and tons of word problems! Andrew and I met at least three times a week and when things were really hectic we would get together for additional days. Andrew had the ability to tailor a program designed where I could understand conceptually what was going on from a real high level. Additionally he would work on my math skills which enabled me to gain confidence in tackling some of the physics word problems. As the months went by, my confidence began to grow and I was doing these physics problems on my own. Andrew has certain innate abilities such as patience, charisma, passion and desire to get the very best out of his students. He also will be able to evaluate each prospective student and build a plan around their strengths and work hard on their weaknesses. I feel that as a person, Andrew is very special. The Wyzant platform is very fortunate to have this man. I will miss our meetings every week very much. I am no longer intimidated by math and word problems. I now have a method to work through these types of challenges and will forever remember these strategies moving forward in my life. Thanks again, DanielDan, 70 lessons with Andrew
Knowledgeable, Organized, & Helpful Tutor
Andrew has been my Physics 101 (both lecture and lab sections) tutor during the Summer Semester. Since my Physics course is online, it’s been a bit harder to do and actually understand the homework and/or labs. I’ve had previous tutors who did not know how to solve problems and wasted a half hour to hour during an actual session! But not Andrew - luckily I found him! Andrew is very organized and knowledgeable. He tells you in advance his schedule so that you can prepare and plan ahead. I love the fact that he asks me questions first, instead of giving me answers. It helps me to make sure I understand the concepts before he explains it himself. He has been really helpful with my lab assignments. Andrew is a quick responder and even helps when I have a few questions that doesn’t require a full hour session. You’ll invest your time & money well with him - thanks so much, Andrew!Samantha, 3 lessons with Andrew
Very Knowledgeable and easy to understand
Andrew always helps me a lot, I have had many lessons with him and I am always happy I did. He makes learning math much easier. I was concerned about the online learning and it turns out to be no problem. Thanks Andrew!TONJA, 11 lessons with Andrew
Andrew has been able to consistently help me with Calculus and Physics
I have had many lessons with Andrew, and each lesson he is able to teach me something new and help reinforce the concepts I have already learned. His explanations are clear and concise allowing for easy understanding of confusing topics. As he teaches, he makes sure that I am following along, and clarifies things that I may not have understood immediately. Andrew has helped me learn both calculus and physics, and I can confirm that he is very knowledgable in both of these subjects. I highly recommend Andrew as a tutor.Joe, 68 lessons with Andrew
Andrew is great. Extremely knowledgeable, and he’s able to give great explanations on concepts. He helped me approach physics problems in a different way. I really appreciate that he doesn’t give me answers, but challenges me to find them myself while guiding me back on track when I get lost. Highly recommend. I will be using Andrew going forward.Michael, 2 lessons with Andrew

I would give Andrew more than 5 starts if I could. He was amazing, between his deep knowledge in the field, how he explains it to you, he is passionate about it and personable.Luc, 1 lesson with Andrew
Knowledgeable, engaging, and interesting
Best instruction ever! Chemistry tutoring with Andrew L. was the best learning experience my son has ever had. And Andrew is so kind, patient, and engaging. He has clear mastery of the subject matter and presented it in a way that was enlightening. My son is looking forward to more tutoring sessions with Andrew.Matt, 7 lessons with Andrew
He was very knowledgeable and patient, and helped me to stretch my brain
He's very smart and patient. He helped me review algebra and talked to me about the subject matter and stretched my understanding of physics. I would recommend him to anybody studying mathematics of any kind.Teri, 4 lessons with Andrew
We only had Andrew tutoring our daughter Physics twice but it already made a difference! His explains the concepts clearly and helps my daughter understand the problems she needs to solve. Would definitely recommend him!Shannon, 47 lessons with Andrew
