I was skeptical at first, due to this being a virtual interaction and the complexity of the subject we were learning. I was coming into our first tutor session very intimidated by math and even more scared of word problems. If you know anything about physics, their are two certainties, lots of math and tons of word problems! Andrew and I met at least three times a week and when things were really hectic we would get together for additional days. Andrew had the ability to tailor a program designed where I could understand conceptually what was going on from a real high level. Additionally he would work on my math skills which enabled me to gain confidence in tackling some of the physics word problems. As the months went by, my confidence began to grow and I was doing these physics problems on my own. Andrew has certain innate abilities such as patience, charisma, passion and desire to get the very best out of his students. He also will be able to evaluate each prospective student and build a plan around their strengths and work hard on their weaknesses. I feel that as a person, Andrew is very special. The Wyzant platform is very fortunate to have this man. I will miss our meetings every week very much. I am no longer intimidated by math and word problems. I now have a method to work through these types of challenges and will forever remember these strategies moving forward in my life. Thanks again, Daniel

I am a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics. I have completed a master’s and I am currently working on a Ph.D. in physics at the University of Vermont with an emphasis on Math, Chemistry, and Theoretical/Computational Physics. I love learning and work hard when teaching new things to my students. I not only want to help them learn their desired subject I want to show them how to become better learners in all aspects. It is my goal to pass my knowledge and experience in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science to every student I meet. I take extra time to understand a student's individual needs and adjust my tutoring style to meet those needs. Every student learns differently, and I take every student as an opportunity to learn.
I tutored for all four years while I was getting my bachelor's degree and I was hired as a tutor for the university for two and a half years. I have continued tutoring professionally for more than 4 years for a grand total of 6+ years of professional tutoring experience and 8+ years of total experience. During this time, I acquired more knowledge and understanding of the subjects and students I tutored, and I developed the patience needed to tutor these potentially difficult subjects. I love to see students learn and I love to see a student finally understand something that they did not before. Passing on my knowledge is one of the greatest gifts I can give, and it is the way I make a positive change in the world. My teaching style revolves around creating a fundamental understanding of the material, fixing bad habits, and helping students avoid common pitfalls. I love giving students resources that I create and go out of my way to create those resources for students. I do not believe in the common teaching methods of memorization and doing things like a robot. I want students to think about problems and understand problems on a fundamental level so they can go on and do better in whatever they decide to pursue.
Andrew has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering 1 question submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.

Great tutor for my son
Andrew has been patient and helpful. He is clearly concerned about my son learning and growing. Thanks, Andrew. Andrew has been great. I'm supposed to have at least 160 characters so I have to keep typing. Now I will try to submit again.John, 3 lessons with Andrew
Great tutor, very knowledgeable
Andrew knows his stuff and goes above and beyond, for example with a problem that had many solutions he did work at home and sent it to us!!Joanne, 11 lessons with Andrew

Thank you Andrew for helping to understand my Java project better and for the extra step to show me how to use eclipse and the debugger !!Patty, 1 lesson with Andrew
Went over the problems (university physics 1) i brought in depth, and took time to review relevant concepts. Good experience overall, and I definitely understood what was happening more at the end.Ali, 2 lessons with Andrew
Many thanks to Andrew for working with us on Pre-calc, Physics, and general math. Our student has benefited from practical coursework exercises and repetition and friendly coaching. Can recommend Andrew without reservation.Cyndi, 111 lessons with Andrew
A great tutor
He was very thorough and detail-oriented. My son really enjoyed sessions with him. Because his major is Physics, he had a different way to approach algebra. He teaches very logical and approachable ways to solve algebra problems.Jina, 1 lesson with Andrew
Knowledgeable, Organized, & Helpful Tutor
Andrew has been my Physics 101 (both lecture and lab sections) tutor during the Summer Semester. Since my Physics course is online, it’s been a bit harder to do and actually understand the homework and/or labs. I’ve had previous tutors who did not know how to solve problems and wasted a half hour to hour during an actual session! But not Andrew - luckily I found him! Andrew is very organized and knowledgeable. He tells you in advance his schedule so that you can prepare and plan ahead. I love the fact that he asks me questions first, instead of giving me answers. It helps me to make sure I understand the concepts before he explains it himself. He has been really helpful with my lab assignments. Andrew is a quick responder and even helps when I have a few questions that doesn’t require a full hour session. You’ll invest your time & money well with him - thanks so much, Andrew!Samantha, 4 lessons with Andrew
