I am a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics. Also, am currently pursuing a Master's and Ph.D. in physics at the University of Vermont with an emphasis on Mathematics, Chemistry, and Theoretical/Computational Physics. I love learning and teaching new material to students and showing them how to become better learners in all aspects. It is my goal to pass my knowledge and experience Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science to as many students as I can and make a big difference in the way they approach and understand both mathematics and physics. With every student, I work with I think about how I can help them grow as students and as people. Every student learns differently, and I take every student as an opportunity to learn how to teach better.

I tutored for all four years at university, and I was hired as a tutor for the university for two and a half years. I have continued tutoring professionally for more than 4 years for a grand total of 6+ years of tutoring experience. During this time, I acquired more knowledge and understanding of the subjects and students I tutored, and I developed a patience that is required to tutor these potentially difficult subjects. I love to see students learn and I love to see a student finally understand something that they did not before. Passing on my knowledge is one of the greatest gifts I can give, and it is the way I make a positive change in the world. My teaching style revolves around creating fundamental understanding of material, fixing bad habits, and helping students avoid the common pitfalls. I love giving students resources that I create and go out of my way to create those resources for students. I do not believe in the common teaching methods of memorization and doing things like a robot. I want students to think about problems and understand problems on a fundamental level so they can go on and do better in whatever they decide to pursue.

Computer Programming,

Computer Programming

I am a Bachelor of Physics with minors in both Mathematics and Computer Science. Computer Science has been a helpful piece of all those studies. Math and Physics assignments regularly required the writing of code. I tutored many Physics and Math students in my classes when they needed help writing code for their assignments. I have taken many computer science classes and have experience building Ray Tracers, Song Sorting Algorithms and particle accelerator simulations.
Java

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics. Elementary Math is very familiar to me and a core part of my mathematical background. I have tutored younger students for 6 months after i graduated college. However I have tutored for 4+ years and did so throughout my entire college career. I also had the Pleasure of working with Young kids when I volunteered for the Little Shop of Physics program for 3.5 years.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have a Bachelors in Physics with minors in both Mathematics and Computer Science. All of those fields are incredibly math heavy and require the constant use of Algebra to succeed. In addition I have 4+ years of tutoring experience tutoring Calculus and Physics. Both these subjects use Algebra as as one of the fundamentals. Due to this I am well versed in the topics of Algebra and their practical applications.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra II is one of the foundations to those courses. I am required to have a deep understanding based on my background. I have 4+ years of tutoring math and physics and Algebra II as included in that experience. Algebra II was the first subject I started tutoring and have continued tutoring to this day.
Calculus,

Calculus

I have a Bachelor of Physics with minors in both Mathematics. Both fields at the higher levels require the constant use of calculus to succeed. In addition I have 4+ years of tutoring experience tutoring Calculus and Physics. Calculus and Physics were my most tutored subjects in college for students of all backgrounds, majors and levels.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have a Bachelor of Physics with minors in both Mathematics and Computer Science. Geometry is one of my favorite subjects and a subject I pursued heavily while getting my minor in mathematics. Differential Geometry, Complex Analysis and other subjects are all heavily based on geometry and extending it. With my background I have a deep understanding of geometry and how it connects to other subjects. I have 4+ years of tutoring experience in mathematics and geometry is one of my strongest subjects.
Physics,

Physics

I have a Bachelor of Physics with Minors in Mathematics and Computer Science. All of these resources are heavily used in physics. While I was in the Physics Department I helped Manage the Teaching Laboratories for the Undergraduate physics students. This required intimate knowledge of the Experiments. I have 4+ years of tutoring experience in physics with formal tutoring through the physics department for 2.5 of those years.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have a Bachelor in Physics with a Minor in mathematics and Minor in computer Science. The topics covered within pre-algebra are at the core of all of those subjects and are topics i am intimately familiar with. I have 4+ years of tutoring experience for math and physics and pre-algebra was not an uncommon subject that was requested for our non-major physics students. This was especially true for art, medical and business majors.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have a Bachelors in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. Precalculus is one of the fundamentals fields of mathematics that I know very well and have a solid foundation of. The ideas of Precalculus begin in introductory physics courses and continue when the student is preparing to take calculus. I have 4+ years tutoring physics and calculus and inevitably Precalculus was a subject that regularly needed reinforcing or reviewing because students often forgot those ideas and that would make physics and calculus harder unless it was reviewed.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry was arguably one of the most used subjects in those three fields. Trigonometry is at the foundation of mechanics, optics, geometry, ray tracing, graphics, electromagnetism and even quantum mechanics. The study of angles, triangles and circles are hugely important and were one of the subjects that most students struggled with outside of calculus. Other than calculus Trigonometry was my most tutored math subject during my 4+ years of tutoring. This was often in conjunction with the physics or calculus tutoring.

Solid tutor

Went over the problems (university physics 1) i brought in depth, and took time to review relevant concepts. Good experience overall, and I definitely understood what was happening more at the end.

A great tutor

He was very thorough and detail-oriented. My son really enjoyed sessions with him. Because his major is Physics, he had a different way to approach algebra. He teaches very logical and approachable ways to solve algebra problems.

Knowledgeable, Organized, & Helpful Tutor

Andrew has been my Physics 101 (both lecture and lab sections) tutor during the Summer Semester. Since my Physics course is online, it’s been a bit harder to do and actually understand the homework and/or labs. I’ve had previous tutors who did not know how to solve problems and wasted a half hour to hour during an actual session! But not Andrew - luckily I found him! Andrew is very organized and knowledgeable. He tells you in advance his schedule so that you can prepare and plan ahead. I love the fact that he asks me questions first, instead of giving me answers. It helps me to make sure I understand the concepts before he explains it himself. He has been really helpful with my lab assignments. Andrew is a quick responder and even helps when I have a few questions that doesn’t require a full hour session. You’ll invest your time & money well with him - thanks so much, Andrew!

Very Knowledgeable and easy to understand

Andrew always helps me a lot, I have had many lessons with him and I am always happy I did. He makes learning math much easier. I was concerned about the online learning and it turns out to be no problem. Thanks Andrew!

Andrew has been able to consistently help me with Calculus and Physics

I have had many lessons with Andrew, and each lesson he is able to teach me something new and help reinforce the concepts I have already learned. His explanations are clear and concise allowing for easy understanding of confusing topics. As he teaches, he makes sure that I am following along, and clarifies things that I may not have understood immediately. Andrew has helped me learn both calculus and physics, and I can confirm that he is very knowledgable in both of these subjects. I highly recommend Andrew as a tutor.

Excellent Tutor!

Andrew is great. Extremely knowledgeable, and he’s able to give great explanations on concepts. He helped me approach physics problems in a different way. I really appreciate that he doesn’t give me answers, but challenges me to find them myself while guiding me back on track when I get lost. Highly recommend. I will be using Andrew going forward.
