Bio

I love working with students! I find it very satisfying to be able to help a student, especially one who struggles. I am told time and again how patient I am. My students appreciate the variety of ways that I am able to present material to them. I never want a student to feel "on-the-spot"!

I have been practicing for you for over thirty years. I have worked with pre-schoolers though senior citizens. I have enjoyed them all!

I worked in a Head Start program with little ones. I have taught remedial mathematics to groups and individuals in elementary school through high school. I even do some of that at the University of Vermont. I worked at Pine Ridge, a high school dedicated to helping learning disabled students. That was fun! I had students from around the world! I now have a group of students from China. They are wonderful students! I am learning so much from them about their culture and their system of education.

I am available to help immediately. I have week-end times available. I also am free some late afternoons and nights. Let's get the show on the road, so that you can be successful in your academic endeavors!

I suggest we start with an hour-long session. That way, we can make sure we communicate well. Then, we can schedule other times to meet. Okey-doke?

Praxis

Praxis

I have helped a number of students prepare for the PRAXIS I. In fact, I offered a course for a small group of education majors who needed help on the math portion. I have also helped individuals prepare for the PRAXIS II's in mathematics. These individuals had done much of the preparation work on their own; they just needed help on specific exercises. They also needed pep talks! Pep talks and strategy support are key in preparing for these tests. Going into the test with the right attitude is paramount! I want students to go into the test knowing they have done as much preparation as they could and being as confident as can be!
Study Skills

Study Skills

Being organized, on time, and attentive to details will serve you well in your courses. These skills do not always happen automatically; some need guidance. I am here to help! I have had about twenty years working with students, providing them with strategies for staying organized, making it to classes on time, and getting work done correctly. Each individual handles these necessary skills differently. For example, I stay organized with my appointments by using a calendar on my computer. Others prefer to plug reminders into their telephones. They need a beep to keep them on track. You and I will work together to devise the best plan for you. The sooner we meet, the sooner you will be able to practice and fine-tune your strategies. So, let's get hopping!
