I'm Richard, I am an undergraduate student at Christopher Newport University with a Organismal & Environmental Biology major. I have taken four semesters of chemistry and biology and have scored 5s on both AP calculus and AP biology exams. I have a passion for getting others to understand difficult topics and have always been a go-to friend for my colleagues in college as someone to study with. I will be a lead mentor next semester guiding students in their own independent research. Aside from this I am an undergraduate researcher myself working on a bat habitat differentiation study funded by Dominion Energy. Next semester I will also be tutoring my colleagues on difficult lectures like chemistry, organic chemistry and biology. As a rising junior I have maintained a 3.82 GPA and have received an excellence nomination in undergraduate research through Christopher Newport University while being a member of the Presidents Leadership Program.

Over summers and on weekends I also enjoy informal education experiences as a zookeeper at Busch Gardens! One of my favorite activities is giving highland cow tours to visitors and of course working with and caring for the animals there.

I am excited to make students more passionate about their academics and feeling more confident when approaching difficult chemistry, math or biology topics. Some things can seem difficult but breaking things down into smaller pieces is a great technique. Because I am a current college student the chemistry, math and biology content will be highly recognizable and I am excited to provide help wherever needed; whether that be guidance on memorizing the process of glycolysis for biology, calculating kJ energy transferred for chemistry, or practicing methods for deriving mathematical equations in calculus, I am happy to help!
