I have summer availability and would love to help your child gain confidence. My rate is $50/ hour for online instruction and $60/ hour for in person lessons.

With a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a love for kids, it would only be natural for me to turn my passion into my career. I have 15 years of tutoring experience and 9 years of teaching experience with grades K-2. I can happily tutor in all subjects for elementary students and can tutor in English and Writing for middle school. I would be interested in Science and Math as well, depending on the unit being discussed; however, as a Journalism major, writing is my forte. I recently completed my Orton-Gillingham plus certification and would love to help your child read.

While teaching in DC, half my students had an Individual Education Plan (IEP) set in place because of their special needs. I worked with them in a small group setting in order to strengthen their foundation skills in all subjects. My teaching has yielded great results. I have a lot of experience working with children who come from different backgrounds/ possess different learning styles.

Whether your child has difficulty staying organized, lacks study skills or simply needs to be challenged, I have a positive remedy for all academic concerns and take pride in the results that are achieved.

I know the Common Core standards very well and have received training with elementary math through the Singaporean math curriculum, Eureka math. My masters degree is curriculum and instruction with a specialization in elementary education. This has familiarized me with all subjects, including math. My endorsement is K-3 as well.
Praxis

Praxis

I successfully completed the Praxis exam and can tutor in subjects: C-PPST: Reading (5710), C-PPST: Writing (5720), C-PPST: Math (5730). The possible score range is 150-190 with the average performance range as 173-178. I scored above average in all areas with a 181 in Reading, 182 in Writing and was 4 points shy of a perfect score with a 186 in Math. Score report can be provided upon request. My MSEd is Curriculum and Instruction and I gained test taking strategies from my degree coursework as well.

I am qualified to tutor in study skills and have been tutoring this subject through Educational Connections. I am a first grade teacher with DC Public Charter Schools and frequently work with children who have special needs and IEPs set into place, so they need a one-to-one environment and help with study skills. I am also in the process of completing an "Executive Functioning Boot Camp" workshop which focuses on strategies for teaching study skills and time management.
