I recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Packaging Systems and Design, completing my degree with a 3.84 GPA. My program combined engineering principles, materials science, systems thinking, and design — coursework that required strong foundations in math, chemistry, and analytical reasoning. During my time at Tech I completed co-ops with Unilever and Silgan Closures, where I learned to break down complex problems into clear, manageable frameworks. That ability to simplify without losing depth is something I carry directly into every tutoring session.
My philosophy is simple: my goal is to make myself unnecessary. Rather than walking students through problems step by step every session, I focus on giving them the mental tools and frameworks to solve problems independently. I want to plant the seeds early and watch students grow into confident, self-sufficient learners. That means spending as much time on how a student thinks as what they know. This identifies the gaps in their reasoning, building systems that click for them specifically, and gradually stepping back as their confidence builds.
I am currently available for SAT prep, algebra, pre-calculus, US history, and essay writing, working one on one with middle and high school students. Every student learns differently and my approach adapts to meet them where they are — not where a textbook says they should be.
