Hi! I'm Meghan, a former New York City high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience and more than 15 years of tutoring experience. I hold a Master's degree in Secondary Math Education from Queens College and a Master's degree from Baruch College in the Scaffolded Apprenticeship Model of School Improvement through Leadership Development, with a focus on educational leadership, improving instruction, and developing strategies to better support student learning.

During my 10 years in the classroom, I primarily taught high school Algebra and Geometry, working with students across a wide range of skill levels and learning styles. I've also tutored students one-on-one and in small groups from elementary math through Algebra 2, as well as students preparing for the Math sections of the SAT and ACT.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping a student reach the moment when something that once felt confusing finally clicks. My approach is personalized to each student. I identify what they already understand, where there may be gaps in their foundation, and which explanations or strategies work best for them. From there, we strengthen those skills while working through current material. My goal isn't simply to help students finish an assignment or prepare for the next test, but to help them understand the math, build confidence, and become more independent learners.

For SAT Math, I combine content review with test-taking strategy. I help students identify the concepts and question types costing them points, strengthen those areas, and develop more efficient approaches to solving problems. Whether a student wants to improve a grade, strengthen their math foundation, or work toward a higher SAT Math score, I look forward to helping them make progress and feel more confident in math.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I’m a former high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience and more than 15 years of math tutoring experience. I help ACT students strengthen skills across algebra, functions, geometry, statistics, probability, and trigonometry while learning how to approach questions efficiently under timed conditions. I focus on identifying each student’s weak areas, reviewing the math behind missed questions, and teaching strategies for recognizing common ACT question types and avoiding unnecessary mistakes. Each student’s preparation is tailored to their current skill level and score goals so we can focus our time where it can make the greatest difference.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I’m a former high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience and more than 15 years of tutoring students in math. I help Algebra 1 students master equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, systems of equations, exponents, polynomials, factoring, and quadratic equations. I focus on identifying where a student’s understanding begins to break down and then explaining the concept step by step in a way that makes sense to them. My goal is to help students improve their current grades while developing the algebra foundation they will need for higher-level math.
Geometry

Geometry

I’m a former high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience and more than 15 years of tutoring students in math. I help Geometry students understand concepts including angles, triangles, similarity, congruence, circles, coordinate geometry, area, volume, and the Pythagorean Theorem. I break diagrams and multi-step problems into manageable pieces and help students understand the reasoning behind formulas instead of relying only on memorization. My goal is to help students become more confident problem solvers while building the geometry skills they need for future math courses and standardized tests.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I’m a former high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience and more than 15 years of tutoring students in math. I help students build a strong foundation in prealgebra, including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, integers, expressions, equations, and introductory geometry. I focus on helping students understand why the math works rather than simply memorizing steps, while breaking concepts down in a way that feels manageable. My goal is to strengthen both their skills and confidence so they are fully prepared for Algebra and higher-level math.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I’m a former high school math teacher with 10 years of classroom experience and more than 15 years of tutoring experience. I help SAT students strengthen the math skills they need most while learning strategies to approach questions more efficiently and confidently. My sessions focus on identifying skill gaps, breaking down difficult concepts, recognizing common SAT question patterns, and practicing effective problem-solving techniques. I tailor each student’s preparation to their individual strengths, weaknesses, and score goals.
